April Tully, LCSW, has been an accomplished psychotherapist for over two decades.  Dually licensed in NY and NJ, she has been employed in a variety of professional settings throughout her multifaceted career, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and rehabs, in addition to private practice.  Her vast experience encompasses both clinical and leadership positions, most notably as the Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator at the NJ Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (one of only 20 therapists nationwide in this federally mandated role) and the Clinical Director of Freedom Institute, a renowned intensive outpatient program for substance use disorders in Manhattan.  Trained in multiple evidence-based protocols (CBT, DBT, DBT PE, EMDR, Psychodynamic Insight-Oriented Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Interventions), she received national recognition and awards for clinical excellence at the VA.  Her areas of expertise run the gamut from trauma (i.e., post-traumatic stress disorder), addictions (chemical and behavioral), mood disorders (anxiety, depression), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), to challenging life transitions such as loss, bereavement, relationship conflicts, catastrophic events, serious or chronic illness, and crisis management.  She treats adults, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families across a diverse spectrum of backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and sexual/gender orientations.  Her warm, compassionate approach with clients incorporates an impressive body of knowledge that is equally trauma informed, trauma sensitive, skills focused, and outcome oriented to co-create with clients unique, holistic, empowered solutions that yield the greatest benefits for them.  She prioritizes forming a therapeutic working  alliance with each person to help them achieve their treatment goals, realize their full potential, and attain their personal definition of a life worth living.  Her mission is to partner with her clients on their journey towards health and healing, offering support each step of the way by enabling them to discover the strengths they may not have known they had.
